Wells Fargo Championship 2024 to be the last event under their partnership with PGA Tour

The Wells Fargo Championship is one of the signature events of the PGA Tour season. The event has marked several great stories over the years in their long partnership with the tour. This story will now have a final chapter as the 2024 event will be the last event under the partnership between these two entities.

The event is usually played in May at the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. This year the event will take place between May 6-12. This event has been named the Wells Fargo Championship since 2011 and has seen an increase in its prize purse over the past few years.

The PGA Tour though is expected to stay in Charlotte and will try and find new title sponsors for the 2025 tournament and beyond. As the talks of the merger with the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia intensify as well, there could be several big names in the market who could try and land a partnership with the professional golf circuit.

Speaking on the tournament, reigning US Open champion Wyndham Clark will enter the event as the defending champion. Surprisingly this was the American golfer’s first PGA Tour win. He will be hoping to etch his name in history as the last winner of the Wells Fargo Championship and successfully defend his crown before the event gets rebranded.
