Gordon Hayward leads Charlotte Hornets to spoil the party for Brooklyn Nets 106-104
Charlotte Hornets’ newest acquisition, Gordon Hayward leads the team as they spoil the party for Brooklyn Nets with a nail-biting win. With the point margin being just 2, the match was close throughout the 4 quarters. Another impressive performance from Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving scoring 29 and 25 points respectively. But it has Gordon Hayward who scored 28 being the top scorer for Hornets. But it wasn’t just his effort that saw the Hornets getting past Brooklyn Nets.
P.J.Washington’s double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds uplifted the morale of the entire team. Also, Terry Rozier’s 19 points were the key factor why the Hornets had some breathing space in the latter stages of the game. However, Hornets need to still work on their shooting from behind the arc with their given accuracy rate of 29.4 in this particular game.
Charlotte Hornets beat Brooklyn Nets 106-104
There is no doubt that Hornets were the big-time underdogs in this game. But the case that they are improving in every single game, made them get past Brooklyn Nets. KD and Irving were worth mentioning in this game as well. But guess, luck didn’t work in their favor as Durant missed a key clutch throw with just over 7 seconds remaining.
Both KD and Irving combined to score yet another 50+ score, which is formidable. If Brooklyn Nets would have won this game, they would have made it 3 out of 3 for the 1st time since 2002-03 season for the Nets. But as it stands Charlotte Hornets have pulled off on of the biggest upsets of the day with a win over the Nets.
Having said that, this should encourage the Hornets’ roster to play even more dominantly against the big guns. Hayward in particular showcased his true value and justified his stand finally of leaving the Boston Celtics for taking up a bigger and better role.
