It absolutely ticked Grayson Waller off when an Australian TV show Sunrise downplayed wrestling this year in February, with its hosts ridiculing the in-ring maneuvers. Sitting beside him was LA Knight, who had a smirk on his face the entire time his WWE colleague was up in arms. Waller schooled a floor manager who was shadow-boxing the Aussie, thinking he could engage in a fistfight with Grayson.

The SmackDown star was visibly upset at the crew member making a mockery out of the art that these pro wrestlers revere. Waller even yelled on air that it wouldn’t be fun when he’d smack him right in the face. The 32-year-old recently joined Chris Van Vliet on the Insight podcast. He told CVV that once the cameras went off, the hosts and the rest of the crew were terrified.

Waller admitted that he’s not surprised by whatever transpired on that morning show, as the people working there weren’t even into wrestling. Grayson said that most of these TV hosts do little to no research about their guests. They usually have multiple interviews lined up for a day, added The Aussie Icon. So he understood why they weren’t meticulous.

Part of it was me being like ‘I’m going to have some fun with this’, and it terrified them. When they turned off the cameras they were terrified, like ‘is everything okay?’ I was like ‘yeah, I’m good.’ I was having fun…….

When asked if at any point he was actually planning to knock someone down, Waller denied it. He said he’s a professional, and they’re taught how to act accordingly. The Moment Maker said although he’d loved to get physical, it’s not the 1980s anymore.

The Sydney-born WWE Superstar even recalled the infamous encounter former wrestler David Schultz had with ABC’s 20/20 reporter John Stossel. Back in 1984, Schultz slapped Stossel twice on camera for calling wrestling fake. Waller, knowing where the business is at right now, couldn’t recreate the scene.

How it’s going for Grayson Waller on the WWE main roster?

Having been called up to the main roster in 2023, Grayson Waller hasn’t had a career-defining moment just yet. One of the highlights of the Aussie’s embryonic WWE journey includes winning the tag team gold with Austin Theory at WrestleMania XL.

Once they lost the titles, the duo started to show signs of dissonance. There were points when it seemed like either one of them would end up betraying each other. However, despite continued teases, WWE aborted those plans.

In fact, the A-Town Down Under have established themselves as a formidable force on SmackDown. Last Friday, they went toe-to-toe with reigning tag champs, The Motor City Machine Guns. MCMG bounced back to score the win even after being dominated by Waller and Theory in the early stages.
