The 17-time World Champion John Cena had to go rogue to win that elusive WWE title in the twilight of his career.

The wrestling timeline is five months into the WWE retirement year of John Cena. He’ll hang up the boots for good in December. But could it happen any sooner? At least, Grayson Waller thinks so. Doing the media rounds in Australia ahead of the PLE announcement, the 34-year-old was a guest on The Project alongside Rhea Ripley.

He basically gave it away that The Cenation Leader will work Crown Jewel on October 11 at the RAC Arena. Waller, though labeling Cena as the GOAT, can’t wait to rain on his parade if the opportunity presents itself. The Aussie Icon wouldn’t hesitate to put the Undisputed WWE Champion to sleep if they cross paths in land down under.

Waller is confident that if they do trade barbs, maybe the ongoing farewell tour ends a month or two early. Both men went face-to-face back in 2023 at the Money in the Bank PLE. The Franchise Player had made a surprise appearance in London to later announce that he’d vouch for a future WrestleMania in the English capital city. A few moments later, the braggadocious, outspoken Aussie, Waller, came out.

He berated the host city and pushed his agenda of Australia potentially bringing The Show of Shows to their country. Cena and Waller have never wrestled each other. The upcoming Crown Jewel PLE might be the last chance for it to happen. It’d be interesting to see if WWE actually pulls the trigger on The Moment Maker embarking on singles competition yet again. He’s currently in a stagnating partnership with Austin Theory.

Randy Orton questioned John Cena’s long-endearing work ethic on SmackDown

John Cena wasn’t there on this week’s SmackDown. He worked tirelessly through the WrestleMania weekend and the subsequent shows and fell victim to a couple of RKOs in the meantime. Cena’s Backlash foe, Randy Orton, delivered a scathing message to his career-long rival on the blue brand taping last night. The Viper brought up the Peacemaker star’s tagline of Hustle, Loyalty, and Respect.

The 45-year-old gave the credit for hustling to Cena. However, Orton lashed out at the 17-time World Champion’s loyalty and respect, both of which ended the moment he sold out to The Rock. The Apex Predator claimed that a week from Saturday at Backlash, Cena will be just another legend for him to put down. The St. Louis native also threatened to punt kick his head through the St. Louis Gateway Arch.

It’d be interesting to see how The Prototype follows it up when he returns to SmackDown next Friday. It’ll serve as the go-home show to the PLE that weekend. In addition to the dates WWE had previously announced for Cena, the latter will also be there at Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 24 in Tampa during the Memorial Day weekend.

R-Truth doesn’t see through John Cena despite the latter’s snub

The majority of the WWE Universe might be against John Cena at the moment. However, it seems like R-Truth, who calls Cena his childhood hero, continues to back the self-proclaimed Last Real Champion. After Randy Orton’s passionate promo on SmackDown, he ran into Truth backstage.

The former Judgment Day member told the 14-time World Champion that he has no chance of dethroning the Ricky Stanicky actor at Backlash. Orton couldn’t help but express his pity for the 53-year-old veteran. Jimmy Uso barged in and took the initiative of talking some sense into the former US Champion.

It should be noted that Truth is on Cena’s side despite the latter giving him a cold shoulder on last week’s SmackDown. Some fans believe that The Cenation Leader will soon drop the real-life Ron Killings on his head to solidify his heel run.
