Aaron Rodgers’ ex-teammate Greg Jennings doesn’t understand the overhyped fiasco over QB missing Jets’ minicamp
Greg Jennings claimed that regardless of the fact that the minicamp was mandatory, it was part of the offseason.

The amount of criticism the New York Jets star quarterback faced for missing the mandatory minicamp seems to have exceeded his previous ones over the COVID-19 vaccine. Even though Aaron Rodgers had informed about his scheduled absence to his team, after attending the entire OTAs, he faced backlash for not prioritizing his team.
However, many found such criticism unjustified, one of those includes his former teammate Greg Jennings. He claimed that mandatory or not; it was part of the offseason and in all fairness, his teammates would have hardly cared about his absence as no one does during the offseason program.
During his recent appearance on First Things First, Jennings downplayed Rodgers’ absence from the minicamp and claimed it was not a big deal. He believes the quarterback’s absence shouldn’t have been made into such an overhyped fiasco.
For me, this was never the big deal, anyway. When you’re in a season and a guy is running behind and we’re supposed to be two hours before every game. And the guy is not showing up, guys are looking like ‘Dude, where's Wildes?’ OTAs– if a guy a guy doesn't show up, nobody is like, 'Where's Wildes?' It’s OTAs, it’s minicamp. We all understand that it’s still offseason.Greg Jennings said
Jennings highlighted if asked by the Jets’ players today with the start of the training camp about Rodgers’ absence, they simply aren’t bothered by it. All they care about is the quarterback is showing up for the training camp.
Jets’ Aaron Rodgers fined for absence at mandatory minicamp
Even though the ten-time Pro Bowler had informed about his scheduled absence from the team as head coach Robert Saleh admitted himself, he is being fined for missing the mandatory minicamp. On the opening day of the training camp, Rodgers revealed to the media that he is being fined “a little more” than the anticipated $50,000.
I knew the consequences if I wasn't gonna be there. The reaction is what it is.Aaron Rodgers said at Wednesday’s press conference.
The star quarterback also reiterated head coach Saleh’s statement about his absence that there are no issues between the two or the team. He admitted that Saleh did want him to be available during the minicamp, but as he couldn’t, the Jets’ head coach comprehended it.
