LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman denied entry at The Masters for two consecutive years since the breakaway league’s emergence back in 2021. Norman’s son took to X to confirm the report that his dad had to buy tickets from the secondary market to support the LIV players playing on the field.
Despite noting, that people showed a positive attitude towards Norman and the Saudi league, the 69-year-old did not get any Masters invite nor could he book a ticket from the professional channels. It all dates back to the previous year when Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley stated that he didn’t want Norman to be a distraction on the course.

However, Norman and his son made a surprising visit to the greens on Wednesday where they later explained that his dad was just a paying customer, a golf fan who came to support his team. Norman Jr. further reiterated how his dad did not get an invite for two years and even was denied entry through Masters’s official ticketing channels.
Without a doubt, an invitation was not extended to my dad, and in fact, when he tried to buy one directly from them, he was denied. Hence, he had to buy on the secondary market.Greg Norman Jr. on X.
The PGA-LIV war has gone on for years with no peace offering in between. The LIV has poached several players to their league, and the gap between the golf worlds has only widened. Although the merger is supposed to bring an end to this cold war, no official actions on it have been made.
Greg Norman happy to receive positive take on LIV Golf from fans at Augusta
Greg Norman claimed that there’s been a positive take from fans at Augusta and even some security officials stopped him to say, “Hey, what you’re doing is fantastic.” He assured me that there wasn’t anyone on the course who came up to him and said anything negative about the Saudi league.

Furthermore, his statement was backed by his son on social media as he said “it was an amazing experience.” He called out the fans for their “sociopathic online trolls” that LIV received throughout the years.
The vast majority of folks we run into are positive, encouraging, fans of LIV, or simply fans of golf. So, in light of this, here's to an epic Masters. Four days where we put all the BS behind us, sit back, and watch a LIV player take the green jacket.Greg Norman Jr. on X.
Norman, who hadn’t attended The Masters since 2021, said he just wanted to be out in the greens to cheer for his squad. He said he wanted to show the LIV players that “the boss is here rooting for you.”
The event, for now, has been postponed due to bad weather and is expected to be delayed by two-and-a-half hours. The first pairing to start off the exciting event is Erik van Rooyen and Jake Knapp.
