After months of speculations, it is now official. Two-time major champion Greg Norman officially stepped down from his position as LIV Golf CEO. He has been replaced by Scott O’Neil ahead of the 2025 season.

In October last year, reports started emerging that the LIV Golf was looking for a new top boss. A week later, Norman would break his silence regarding this. In a statement released by LIV Golf, the league claimed that O’Neil will assume the position of CEO effective immediately. While Norman would hand off day-to-day management to O’Neil, he will continue to remain with the PIF-funded tour.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, we welcome Scott to the LIV Golf family, knowing he will capitalize on everything that has been accomplished over the past three years. Scott has the passion, the tenacity, and the vision to continue leveraging LIV Golf’s position as a pre-eminent, global sports and entertainment company and to lead our amazing teams and players for years to come.

Apart from his work with the 76ers, O’Neil has also worked as the executive of the NHL side, New Jersey Devils. He has also worked with the New York Knicks, the New York Rangers, and the Philadelphia Eagles. Before joining LIV Golf, he was serving as the CEO of Merlin Entertainments.

O’Neil joins LIV Golf at a time when their backers – PIF find themselves locked in talks with the PGA Tour over a potential merger. It is expected that he will now join Yasir Al-Rumayyan and Jay Monahan in these talks going forward.

First and foremost, congratulations to Scott. The league will be in very good hands with him at the helm… I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve accomplished or more pleased with where the league stands today. I’m excited to pass the baton of day-to-day management and continue to help do what I can to grow LIV Golf. LONG LIV GOLF!
