Ex-Miami Marlins executive David Sampson recently came under the spotlight over his brutal remarks on New York Yankees’ new fan favorite Jazz Chisholm Jr. He boldly called out the center fielder saying he’s nothing special, “He’s not the star; he’s not the center of attention.”

Following his comments on The Dan le Batard Show on Wednesday’s episode, Gio and Jones host Gregg Giannotti blasted him for his negative opinion of the rising Yankees star. He openly told him to “shut up” about his opinion, and even criticized his voice saying it’s just “ugh”.

Although there had been controversies on how much Jazz Chisholm Jr. would be able to mingle with the Yankees in the locker room, those thoughts were put to rest after seeing his stellar performance on the team. He became the first Yankees player to score 4 home runs in just three starts. His offensive power lifted up the team, letting him become one of the Bronx fan favorites.

However, David Samson’s negative take on the star brought many MLB pundits, and fans to criticize him. The ex-Marlins executive noted,

Jazz needed to be traded off this team, and the fact that he was given to the Yankees, whatever happens with the Yankees is fine. He’s not the star; he’s not the center of attention.

He further added that it won’t be long before Chisholm Jr. starts to get on a slow start. He even called out how in Miami “it gets ignored with one camera” but now that the 26-year-old is with the Yankees, he needs to be careful of his actions, “be careful what you wish for.”

Countering his comments, TV personality Gregg Giannotti said,

David Samson sounds like a really annoying defense attorney. Shut up, you little twerp. God damn, just shut up…his voice is just ugh.

Samson fired back warning him that if Giannotti goes on like this then Jon ‘Stugotz’ Weiner may take his job away. Regardless of their fiery exchange, the Yankees’ second baseman is hitting it hard in the diamonds.

“His energy is so infectious” – Anthony Volpe on Jazz Chisholm Jr.

New York Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe recently talked about teammate Jazz Chisholm Jr. and his “infectious” energy in the locker room. He mentioned how Chisholm Jr.’s addition to the team has not only brought offensive power for them but also new energy along with it.

It is reported that before signing Chisholm Jr., Brian Cashman spoke with Derek Jeter and CC Sabathia about whether they thought he would fit with the Yankees. Both of them positively signed him off, although it seemed David Samson did not believe when Chisholm Jr. said Jeter was his idol.

It’s been amazing. He’s a baller…he’s so excited to be part of the team. His energy is so infectious as it is, but we’re so happy to get him.

He waived it off as “ridiculousness”. Regardless, the center fielder is warmly welcomed both by the team and by the fans. Cashman, Aaron Judge, and even Volpe attested that after a long and serious discussion, Chisholm Jr. decided to join the team, and his immediate results and personality were already a hit in the Bronx.
