Lucky is an adjective generally not associated with Gunther. The Ring General is infamous for dominating his opponents. His matches usually end in a deadly submission or an intense beatdown. However, his King of the Ring semi-final match against ‘Main Event’ Jey Uso may have taken him to the limit.
Gunther gave an interview after Raw went off the air regarding his recent match. He talked about how his match against Uso was a close competition. The Austrian wrestler even believed that his opponent had him at one point if the referee hadn’t collided with him.
All in all, it was bad luck for Jey Uso but good luck for the victor. The former Intercontinental Champion said that one has to earn luck. He asserted that he had been earning his luck ever since he stepped foot into WWE. Gunther is now looking forward to the finals, which is either going to be against Randy Orton or Tama Tonga.
I think Jey actually had me, if the ref wouldn’t have collided with me. It’s bad luck for him, it’s a lot of luck for me. But sometimes, you gotta earn luck, and I’m earning luck ever since I stepped foot in this company.

He respected Orton for being one of the biggest names to ever step foot in a WWE ring. While Tama Tonga was still new to the game, he still had a decade-long career in Japan. However, he asserted that no matter who he faced, they would not have ever stepped into the ring with someone like him.
The Austrian claimed that he was excited to go to Saudi Arabia. According to him, the Arabic audience would experience what it was like for The Ring General to grace the ring in the holy land.
Gunther explains the difference between Triple H and Vince McMahon’s visions for WWE
While speaking to the Daily Mail, Gunther explained the difference he felt while working under Triple H and Vince McMahon. He revealed that he was not a big fan of McMahon’s vision of what professional wrestling should be. What the on-screen product used to be at the time simply did not appeal to the Austrian.
This was one of the reasons he avoided coming to the US for a long time. The longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion claimed to be a throwback. The Ring General prefers to have sufficient time for his matches. Moreover, he wanted to focus on what he did in the ring and not the bells and whistles around it.
On the other hand, the former NXT UK Champion has had a great working relationship with Triple H. He is a much bigger fan of what Levesque brings to the table. The formerly-known Walter described The Cerebral Assassin’s vision as more modern and intelligent than his predecessor’s.
