SummerSlam is just around the corner, and the festivities for the event have begun. One of the key matches leading up to the show is Gunther vs. Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship. What felt like a decent match has eventually become a main event feud between two of the best in WWE. This week on Raw, they took a step ahead in their heated rivalry with some punches against each other.
The feud between Gunther and Damian Priest has taken inspiration from the dark reality of privileged vs. underprivileged. The Ring General has been taking shots against The Punisher over his past. The Judgment Day member had enough of the mockery by the King of the Ring as he unleashed a full-on attack. He went on to set up a chain of punches for the Imperium leader. It led to a massive brawl to kick off Raw.
The former Intercontinental Champion didn’t back down, as he also tried his best to take down the World Heavyweight Champion. However, El Campeon had adrenaline in his soul, which made him invincible for the moment. Raw GM Adam Pearce had to send a crew of WWE officials to settle the chaos.
The 36-year-old star has been thoughtless about his words for The Judgment Day members. It has ignited a fire in the heart of the Punisher that has certainly increased his chances of walking out of SummerSlam as the champion. Besides, the Ring General has been the favorite to win the match for a long time. Fans will have to wait and see what’s going to be the outcome after such a heated rivalry.
Gunther tried to get under the skin of Damian Priest on socal media
All these months, Gunther has been confident with his claims and statements. Last week, he called Damian Priest “street trash,” which led to major controversy in WWE. Taking it to Instagram, the Ring General continued to back his statement with a bold message for El Campeon.
The Ring General said that the Punisher had to struggle all his life because he didn’t grow up in a rich family. The King of the Ring himself was gifted by God, which led to opportunities knocking on his door. The 36-year-old posted this with a caption saying “hard facts,” rubbing some salt on the wounds of Priest.
Moreover, the former Intercontinental Champion once again went on to call the whole Judgment Day “street trash” this week. Priest has been gaining the support of the fans in this blockbuster feud. The WWE Universe seems invested in this rivalry for the World title.
