Current WWE Champion disses Goldberg at Bad Blood following Triple H’s historic announcement
WWE HOF'er Goldberg was caught off guard by an unexpected blitzkrieg of verbal shots aimed at him after Triple H's announcement at Bad Blood.

At the Bad Blood PLE, Triple H announced the introduction of the ‘Crown Jewel’ Championship. It’d be an annual occurrence that’ll see the coronation of the Crown Jewel Champion by pitting reigning WWE Champions against the World Champions. Before Hunter could go further, Gunther came out.
After bringing up that he has a world title defense against Sami Zayn this week on Raw, the Austrian shifted his attention to Goldberg. The WWE Hall of Famer was sitting front row with his wife and son, Gage. Gunther went completely off on the 59-year-old.
He told Goldberg that he lied to Bret Hart about his favorite wrestler growing up. The World Heavyweight Champion said why’d he idolize a one-trick pony like Goldberg? After that, the erstwhile Walter targeted the WWE legend’s son, saying he hoped Goldberg would be a better father to him than he was ever as a pro wrestler.
Seeing Gunther raining down on Gage, the former Universal Champion was riled up. He even hopped the barricade to make a beeline for The Ring General, but security came in the way. Meanwhile in the ring, Sami Zayn, out of nowhere, attacked Gunther. The former Honorary Uce kept brawling with his soon-to-be opponent till the entrance stage.
Still standing in the ring was Triple H, who raised Goldberg’s hand before the segment came to a close. However, before the cameras rolled off, the former WCW Champion did scream that Gunther’s next on his list. Does that mean the icon has one more match left in him? By the looks of it, WWE might’ve just engineered a retirement match for the HOF’er. The latter’s been pretty vocal about Vince McMahon never bestowing one on him. That might change now.
What does Triple H’s announcement entail?
As emphasized by Triple H, the Crown Jewel titles will be handed to those who emerge victorious in the proposed champion vs. champion matches. As things stand, Cody Rhodes will take on Gunther, unless their world titles change hands in the lead-up to Crown Jewel.
On the women’s side of things, Liv Morgan could take on Nia Jax, given that both women would be champions till then. In these aforementioned matches, neither of the titles will be on the line. However, as the WWE CCO affirmed, there will be a definitive winner.
This announcement has received its fair share of criticism on social media. The fans see it as an unnecessary addition to the existing array of top-tier storylines in WWE.
