As Gunther walked to the back through that curtain, he didn't see any of his peers being present in the gorilla position to congratulate him.

“I’m not here to make friends,” said Gunther in a candid statement that he delivered during the Raw Recap with Sam Roberts and Megan Morant. The Ring General dethroned Jey Uso to become the new World Heavyweight Champion on Raw this week. However, during the aforementioned conversation, the Austrian claimed that none of his peers stayed back to congratulate him.

The 37-year-old asserted that he saw no one in the gorilla position when he returned backstage. Usually, it’s where the superstars watch their colleagues perform on the TV screens and let one another know that they’re proud of their mutual achievements. In Gunther‘s case, there wasn’t anything like that. Was he upset about it? As one could see in the clip below, The Ring General said he felt happy about the situation.

When I walked backstage, there was no one. Everybody left. I like that. I don’t need friends, I’m not here to bond. I’m here for business.

The erstwhile Walter affirmed that he’s not in WWE to make friends, also mentioning that he has a few of them in real life, apart from being blessed with a caring family. Gunther didn’t stop there, as he went on to state that he’s there for business and upholding the prestige of professional wrestling. To conclude, the Imperium boss claimed that he’s the sole representation of what really matters in this industry.

Uso did push the Austrian to the limit in their grueling contest. However, oozing unprecedented dogmatism, the former NXT UK Champion turned it up to eleven in clutch moments to get the better of The Yeet Master. After what he accomplished last night, Gunther is now a two-time world champion on the main roster.

Gunther comments on Goldberg and Seth Rollins rumors around his title match on Raw

In the same conversation from above, Gunther addressed the shock factor around his triumph on Raw. The record-setting IC Champion mentioned how some fans were convinced that Seth Rollins would end up cashing-in on him by the end of the night.

Or worse, Goldberg would finally show up to do something about the embarrassment Gunther inflicted on the WWE Hall of Famer the last time they were face-to-face at Bad Blood. The Vienna-born wrestler asserted that all of those big names like Rollins and Goldberg didn’t dare to step up to him in his first reign as the world champ.

While Gunther mentioned it staying in character, the lack of actual main event-level challengers for him back then was actually a creative issue on WWE’s part, and the fans were disappointed about it. The Ring General outright stated in an interview that he didn’t get to show his real side in the later stages of 2024.

That being said, he might not run out of stifling competition this time around. This year’s Mr. Money in the Bank, Rollins, has all the backup he needs in the form of Bron Breakker and “Big” Bronson Reed. They would surely make life easy for The Visionary as to whenever he intends on using the MITB contract to his advantage.

What did Gunther say about Jey Uso after beating him on Raw?

WWE has posted an unseen clip of Gunther talking trash about Jey Uso as he was walking to the back after winning the world title on Raw. The Ring General could be heard mocking the fans who were left agape at what happened. The Austrian asserted that Uso doesn’t have what it takes to hold the most coveted belt on the red brand.

Gunther added that he’s at the top of the world and he’d remain there until he kept lacing a pair of wrestling boots. Meanwhile, Uso, on the other hand, spoke highly of his WrestleMania 41 foe after Raw went off-air. The Yeet Master called Gunther one of the best athletes he’s ever stepped foot in the ring with.

The San Francisco native also apologized to his younger son, Jeyce, let alone the entire audience, for coming up short against a formidable Gunther. Uso did mention in his promo that he’s going to run it back with The Ring General. So, does that mean they’ll continue feuding for the time being? It’s plausible given that WWE’s next PLE, Night of Champions, is just above a couple of weeks away.
