Gunther will walk into WrestleMania as the World Heavyweight Champion to face fan favorite Jey Uso on Night 1 of this year’s Showcase of the Immortals. Lately, The Ring General has been busy with various promotional events for WWE. In a recent interview, he revealed that he signed a new WWE contract—but only after setting one specific condition.

The Austrian powerhouse revealed on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani that he signed a new deal with WWE. As part of the contract, Gunther requested a personal tour bus—something he made sure to bring up during negotiations. The World Heavyweight Champion emphasized that he got it simply because he asked for it.

During the interview, Gunther also praised how smoothly things are being run in WWE right now. He shared that his recent contract negotiations were handled quickly and professionally. The Ring General credited Triple H for changing the direction of sports entertainment and said he’s excited to see WWE reach even greater heights in the future.

Moreover, over the past couple of weeks, the rivalry between Gunther and Jey Uso has reached a whole new level. After The Ring General took out Jimmy Uso on Raw, ‘Main Event’ Jey is more fired up than ever to prove he can take down the Austrian powerhouse. With that kind of determination coming his way, the World Heavyweight Champion has a serious challenge ahead of him.

Gunther reveals true feeling about his feud with Jey Uso

When Jey Uso won the Royal Rumble, it sparked a wave of criticism from fans who questioned whether The Yeet Man was a credible choice to main event WrestleMania. Even Gunther had previously hinted that he expected a bigger matchup for the grand stage. However, in a recent interview, The Ring General opened up about how he really feels regarding his feud with Uso.

Speaking on The MMA Hour, the World Heavyweight Champion shared that he’s happy with how things have played out in his feud with Uso. Gunther admitted it was a challenge to keep the momentum going through a ten-week build, especially with WWE being red-hot on the road to WrestleMania. Still, he praised how everything has come together over the past couple of weeks.

I am happy, but it was a challenge because it was a 10-week build. To really find something that excites you for 10 weeks is hard, especially with all the other stuff going on. But I think we managed it very well. The last two weeks I think we got it en route where it’s supposed to be.

Although the 37-year-old admitted he initially felt he should’ve faced a bigger name, he also said he’s mature enough to understand what’s best for the overall product. That’s why he’s happy and content with his road to WrestleMania 41. With that mindset, Gunther seems genuinely excited for his match at The Showcase of the Immortals next weekend.

Yes, [Curt Hennig] was fantastic as well. Name the who’s-who, I liked them. Yes, I would say I prefer [the big, strong brute wrestlers],
