Gunther has been dominant in WWE since his NXT days, and even more so on the main roster. One can count the number of times he has been pinned on one hand. He continued his dominance by winning the King of the Ring and a guaranteed World Heavyweight Championship title shot at SummerSlam. However, The Ring General suddenly stopped appearing on TV since and has been absent for weeks.

Speaking on The Gorilla Position, Gunther talked about his absence from WWE programming in recent weeks. The longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion claimed to be a fan of the idea that less is more. He said that he followed this approach in most aspects of his life. Furthermore, it made sense for him to be off TV at the moment.

After the former NXT UK Champion won King of the Ring, it was clear that he would challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam, no matter who it was against. Therefore, he felt that there was no need for him to be involved in any storyline before Money in the Bank.

Overall, I’m a big fan of less is more. I think it’s a rule that applies in most occasions in life. I think in general, it makes sense right now.

The 36-year-old’s last major appearance at a WWE show was when he won King of the Ring in Saudi Arabia. Since then, he has appeared on Monday Night Raw a few times but did not do anything significant. In the past couple of weeks, he has been completely off TV.

Gunther says that The Wyatt Sicks storyline is not to his taste

The June 17th, 2024, edition of Raw saw the much-awaited debut of the Wyatt Sicks. While many wrestling legends have praised them, with the likes of Finn Balor expressing his desire to work with them, the Austrian wrestler doesn’t seem much of a fan.

During the same interview, The Ring General was asked his thoughts on the Wyatt Sicks faction. He claimed that this opinion wasn’t limited to wrestling but also extended to other things like movies. The 36-year-old simply did not enjoy the genre of supernatural stuff, ghosts, or anything of the like. He is, instead, more of a documentary guy. He loved history and wanted to know more about something that actually happened.

It’s not just wrestling, it’s also movies, like the genre, everything that has to do with spooky stuff or ghosts, or supernatural, that’s not my taste at all.

Therefore, it was hard for him to judge a storyline like The Wyatt Sicks when it wasn’t to his taste. However, he acknowledged that the audience was hugely interested in them, as evidenced by their reactions. The Raw Superstar felt that the biggest challenge would be maintaining the mysterious ‘aura’ even when they entered the ring. He trusted Triple H to handle it perfectly. Further, he wished for them to be a huge success and was interested to see how the story would play out.
