Gunther has been one of the most dominant superstars since his main roster debut, thanks to his legendary 666-day I.C. Title reign. However, there was a time when he didn’t show much likeness to the product under Vince McMahon. The Ring General explained why he didn’t want to be a part of it. 

While speaking on Gorilla Position, Gunther admitted that he hesitated to work in the United States while Vince McMahon was still in charge. He stated that he didn’t enjoy the product before Triple H took over. The Ring General felt he wouldn’t have been where he is now under Vince’s regime and was thankful to Hunter, who always saw something in him.

The 36-year-old star said many things happened in his career at the right time. That is true, as he became one of the greatest Intercontinental champions. Fans were in awe of not only his wrestling but also his promo skills. Gunther finally lost the title to Sami Zayn at WrestleMania XL.

He made his very first appearance on last week’s episode of Raw and came up with a new target for himself to achieve. The former I.C. Champion made his intentions of winning the King of the Ring tournament pretty clear. However, it won’t be easy for him, as he won’t get the necessary backup from a former Imperium member, Giovanni Vinci.

After suffering an embarrassing loss against the New Day, Ludwig Kaiser attacked his partner Vinci by order of the Ring General. He justified his action by saying the 33-year-old didn’t adjust and was left behind. To the surprise of the WWE Universe, Chad Gable agreed with his longtime rival’s ideology.

The leader of Alpha Academy replied to his post and said for once they had agreed on something. Gable finds himself in a parallel situation to Gunther’s, as his students Otis, Maxxine Dupri, and Akira Tozawa have deeply disappointed him. He insulted them by calling them failures and ordered them to help him win the I.C. title.

Gable tapped into his darker side when his friend Sami Zayn achieved everything instead of him. After losing against him in a match for the I.C. title on the April 16 episode of Raw, he brutally attacked the champ in front of his family out of jealousy. It will be interesting to see whether this new attitude helps him finally win a singles title in WWE.
