At Saturday Night’s Main Event, Gunther asserted his dominance over Jey Uso. After coming close in the closing stretch, Uso fell short at last, succumbing to consecutive powerbombs. Moreover, this marked Uso’s sixth world title match loss of his career. Adding to the heartbreaking defeat, The Ring General sent a warning to the YEET Master following their clash.

Gunther took to X to gloat about his one-sided record against ‘Main Event’ Jey. As such, the World Heavyweight Champion has seemingly grown tired of humiliating Uso and is done with him for now. Gunther has defeated Uso three times in the past year, first during an Intercontinental Title match during his record-breaking reign. Months later, Gunther once again handed Uso a loss in the King of the Ring semifinals before going on to win the tournament.

Now, Uso will have to rebuild after succumbing to last year’s King of the Ring winner at Saturday Night’s Main Event. To his credit, the former Tag Team Champion did come close to dethroning Gunther at the retro event. But it wasn’t meant to be, at least for now. The OG Bloodline member will most likely enter the upcoming Royal Rumble match on Saturday.

If he does win, Jey Uso will receive a shot at a world title in the main event of WrestleMania. However, he will come across one of the most stacked fields in Rumble history, featuring John Cena, Roman Reigns, CM Punk, and Seth Rollins. Therefore, only time will tell if and when Uso can finally capture the first world title of his career.

What is next for Gunther following win at Saturday Night’s Main Event?

While Jey Uso looks to regain momentum, Gunther will now shift focus to the road to WrestleMania 41. Since winning the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam 2024, Gunther has defeated the likes of Randy Orton and Sami Zayn.

With several top stars still gunning for the title, Gunther might face tough challenges ahead. Considering that the Royal Rumble card is currently locked, his next championship defense will most likely be at the Elimination Chamber. WWE seemingly teased Gunther’s upcoming feud on last week’s Raw episode.

Gunther’s Imperium teammate, Ludwig Kaiser, called out the newly arrived Penta during an interview. As such, The Ring General might go one-on-one with the Luchador. Interestingly, the World Heavyweight Champion previously expressed interest in facing the former AEW star.
