“It’s the same people that would complain,” Record-breaking Champion defends WWE’s decision of not having Seth Rollins, CM Punk and Drew McIntyre in the world title match at SummerSlam 2024

Having been robbed of a fair shot at the World Heavyweight title by CM Punk at Money in the Bank, Seth Rollins seems to be in a spot of bother heading into SummerSlam next month. He wouldn’t be competing for the top prize on Monday Night Raw at The Biggest Party of the Summer, and Gunther has a rationale for endorsing this snub.
The Ring General was recently a guest on the Gorilla Position and he analyzed WWE’s decision of not having top names like Seth Rollins, CM Punk, or even Drew McIntyre in the running for championship gold at SummerSlam. The 2024 King of the Ring tournament winner underscored how some of those people are the ones who’d rather criticize WWE Creative at times for not building new stars.
Further elucidating his erudite response, the Austrian grappler lauded the current regime for showing that belief in two of its younger faces, namely Gunther himself and his soon-to-be opponent, Damian Priest. It’s going to be the biggest match of their lives come August 3rd. Neither Priest nor Gunther have been in those shoes ever before and they might think it’d be the golden opportunity to silence their naysayers.
I heard that, people were like ‘Why is Seth not involved?’ ‘Why is Drew not involved?’ ‘Why is Punk not involved?’ On the other hand it’s the same people that would complain that there are no new stars built, there’s no opportunities for other people than the usual ones.Gunther via Gorilla Position
The leader of Imperium admitted that it’s now up to him and El Campeon to live up to everyone’s expectations. Meanwhile, as for Punk and McIntyre, they seem all set to battle it out one-on-one in Cleveland. That’d leave Seth out of the equation. It’s looking likely that The Visionary might have to be on the sidelines this year, barring WWE pulls a rabbit out of their hat for The Drip God.
Does Gunther have what it takes to become the World Champion at SummerSlam?
Ever since winning the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XL, Damian Priest hasn’t looked back at all. Despite some hiccups on the way, the Judgment Day member has had some fantastic title defenses of late.
He’s on a roll but hasn’t quite met anyone like Gunther just yet. The latter last competed in May when he ousted Randy Orton to win the King of the Ring crown. That win paved the way for The Ring General’s maiden crack at a world title on the main roster.
And what a moment it would be for the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion if he manages to pip The Archer of Infamy at SummerSlam. As of now, it’s tough to call who’s got the upper hand. However, considering Gunther’s rabid dogmatism, he might have an edge over the champion.
