AJ Styles has yet again caught some strays from Gunther, who laughed in his face this past Monday night on Raw.

There’s never been more eyeballs on Gunther than there are right now, thanks to the mammoth distinction of his making John Cena give up to send him packing into retirement. After putting Cena in the dirt, it seems like ‘The Ring General’ has already figured out his next target.
As seen on Raw this past Monday, Gunther came face-to-face with AJ Styles. They met in the parking lot when the Austrian was on his way out of the arena. Styles didn’t utter a word. Gunther, however, chose to hilariously mock the former Bullet Club leader with John Cena‘s “You Can’t See Me” taunt.
The fans thoroughly enjoyed their interaction and even called for their match down the line, which does seem inevitable at this point.
I don’t really have a list but yeah, AJ, I’ve never wrestled AJ before. I think it would be a great one. AJ is definitely one of the best cruiserweight wrestlers in TNA history. We shall see.

Gunther recently joined The Ringer podcast and threw another shade at ‘The Phenomenal One’. The former Imperium leader quipped that Styles is one of the best cruiserweight wrestlers that TNA has ever seen. Quite a dig. Isn’t it? He said so while discussing if Styles is next on his radar after retiring John Cena.

Even though he didn’t reveal too much, the former NXT UK Champion called his Raw confrontation with Styles a foreshadowing of things to come. And if that’s the case, the 38-year-old is ready to meet Mr. TNA inside a ring anytime soon.
Rumors have spiraled regarding Gunther potentially taking on ‘The Face that Runs the Place’ at WrestleMania 42, which could serve as Styles’ WWE farewell. The latter is currently one-half of the world tag team champions alongside Dragon Lee. They had a successful outing against Je’Von Evans and Leon Slater on the same night as Cena’s final WWE match.
Gunther hails Michael Cole’s call on commentary for making John Cena give up
The closing sequence to John Cena’s wrestling swansong will be talked about for decades to come, or until pro wrestling ceases to exist. One of the most underrated aspects of that polarizing ending was Michael Cole‘s labeling of the defeat that ended Cena’s WWE career.

Cole emphasized that pro wrestling destroyed sports entertainment to describe Gunther‘s gargantuan feat of sending the 17-time world champion into retirement. ‘The Ring General’ discussed that particular monologue from Cole in the aforementioned podcast. Gunther said he liked the way it was put forth by the legendary commentator.
The Vienna-born wrestler acknowledged the fact that he and Cena are day and night in terms of their wrestling styles. Gloating about his in-ring prowess, the two-time World Heavyweight Champion affirmed that his in-ring work speaks for itself, no matter who he is facing.
It was a good line to put up because I think John and I are very very different as wrestlers, so I think it was a good headline for that. I wouldn’t say it’s my number one mission because once you get in the ring with me or once I get time to get out there and do what I do, I think it kind of speaks for itself…..

The sight of Gunther tapping John Cena at SNME elicited highly polarizing reactions from the wrestling fraternity. The live crowd absolutely loathed that ending and expressed its disdain by booing WWE lead booker Triple H every time he appeared on camera that night.
While AEW commentator Jim Ross has backed WWE’s call of ‘The Ring General’ beating ‘The Cenation Leader’, Jeff Jarrett believes it was the dumbest finish ever to a wrestling match. Joining the ranks of those who were against the decision WWE ended up making was Cena’s father, who questioned the need to anger almost 20,000 fans packing the Capital One Arena in DC.
