Gunther was alleged to have lost his edge late last year, but he’s back with a bang. This past Monday on Raw, The Ring General made Jey Uso pass out to become the new World Heavyweight Champion for the second time in his career. The fans at the Footprint Center in Phoenix couldn’t believe what they had seen.

The Austrian has posted a montage of teary-eyed members of the WWE Universe, mostly kids, who were lamenting Uso’s shocking loss. It seems like Gunther is having the time of his life since downing his polar opposite after a hard-hitting clash. Uso pulled out the sleeper hold on his foe, which was effective at WrestleMania 41.

But this time around, the Imperium boss came prepared. Even though he was tested yet again by The Yeet Master, Gunther didn’t tap out and reversed the pressure on the former Bloodline member instead. After losing, Uso was consoled by his younger son, Jeyce, at ringside. Before heading to the back, The Ring General was seen barking at the camera that Uso didn’t have what it took to remain a world champion.

Also, in a revelation he made on Raw Recap, there was no one present in the gorilla position to congratulate him on the win. Everyone had left by the time Gunther reached backstage. Speaking of how he felt about it, the 37-year-old asserted that he was happy being in that kind of a situation. Gunther went on to claim that he’s not in WWE to make friends and create perennial bonds but to do business.

Gunther to be confronted by Goldberg on this week’s Raw?

Now that Gunther is at the top of the food chain again, there’s no rest for the weary. It seems like he’s about to be confronted by someone he disrespected in front of his family at WWE Bad Blood last October—Goldberg. As per BodySlam, the WWE Hall of Famer is expected to make his impending return on next week’s Raw. Moreover, he’s being said to go after the brand-new world heavyweight champion.

Goldberg announced last year that he’ll be wrestling his WWE retirement match sometime in 2025. It seems it’s almost here. The Tulsa native is rumored to have his swansong at Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12 in Atlanta, Georgia, from where he’s billed. The former WCW Champion revealed during a recent interview that he dreamt of wrestling for the last time in Israel.

However, it’s not feasible with the kind of political landscape over there. For the unversed, the 58-year-old has a Jewish ancestry. Circling back to his rumored opponent Gunther, the latter is on song right now. One could only imagine the amount of menacing blows he’d inflict on the regressing frame of Goldberg when they step foot in that ring.

Who could oppose Gunther at SummerSlam 2025?

WWE will crown its 2025 King of the Ring later this month at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia. The winner will receive a world title shot at the champion of their respective brand at SummerSlam. Last year, Gunther won that crown and went on to dethrone Damian Priest for the big gold at The Biggest Party of the Summer.

But this time around, he might have to defend the world heavyweight title if a Raw superstar becomes KOTR. In the first of four Fatal 4-Way matches to be held in the ongoing tournament, Sami Zayn advanced to the semifinals by ousting Bron Breakker, Penta, and Dominik Mysterio on Raw this past Monday.

While only one-fourth of the tourney has run its course, early speculation has Zayn emerging victorious in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the KOTR finals. The Canuck’s immense popularity in the country might lead to it. If that happens, he’d be going after the world title, currently around Gunther’s waist. They’d duke it out at SummerSlam if The Ring General were to keep the belt until then.
