John Cena has high hopes for his WWE retirement tour this year. Following his heartbreaking loss at the Royal Rumble, he has vowed to main-event WrestleMania and capture a record-breaking 17th WWE Championship. However, World Heavyweight Champion Gunther has other ambitions, recently making it clear that he intends to shatter Cena’s dream and solidify his dominance on the grandest stage.
Speaking with Daily Mail, The Ring General emphasized that he carries a World Title on his shoulder, making it likely that Cena would have to go through him. Gunther made it clear that if given the opportunity, he would relish the chance to crush Cena’s aspirations of winning another championship.
Maybe I can end up as his last chance to win a championship at some point in that year, and I can be the one that crushes all those dreams. That would be very enjoyable.

Furthermore, he expressed his desire to be Cena’s final opponent in WWE, aiming to end the Cenation Leader’s legendary career on his terms. Moreover, the Austrian superstar added that it would be an enjoyable sight for him. That said, he hopes to cross paths with the 16-time WWE Champion during WWE’s Europe Tour next month.
Earlier, rumors suggested that Gunther might face John Cena at WrestleMania, but the match appears to have been postponed for now. However, with Cena’s retirement tour set for this year, the possibility of this showdown remains high. It will be interesting to see how their paths unfold on the road to WrestleMania and whether their long-anticipated clash eventually becomes a reality.
Gunther unhappy about his WrestleMania plans
Gunther is set to defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Jey Uso at WrestleMania 41. However, the match has faced criticism from fans worldwide. Recently, The Ring General addressed his WrestleMania plans and took shots at Uso. He dismissed Jey’s Royal Rumble victory as nothing more than a fluke.

In his interview with The Daily Mail, Gunther admitted that Jey Uso was not his preferred WrestleMania opponent. He stated that he wanted to face someone on his level rather than ‘Main Event’ Jey, whom he had already defeated. The Austrian powerhouse criticized the Royal Rumble for being an overcrowded match. He expressed his disappointment, claiming that Jey’s victory made the night boring.
I’m not interested in wrestling Jey at WrestleMania. I was looking for somebody who is one of the last few remaining guys on the roster that I would say are maybe one step ahead of me, and it would have been nice to be in there with one of them, to bring them down one inch and make a step up.

The 36-year-old acknowledged that similar situations have occurred in the past. However, he made it clear that he intends to put an end to the underdog story at WrestleMania. Gunther emphasized that Jey Uso is in for a brutal fight when they collide. He warned that The Grandest Stage of Them All will witness a beating like never before.
