Olympic gold medalists Simone Biles and Aly Raisman along with dozens of other gymnasts who were sexually abused by former coach Larry Nassar are seeking over $1 billion from the FBI for failing to stop the ‘sports doctor’ when the agency first received allegations against him, their lawyers said. There is no argument that FBI agents knew that Nassar had been accused of sexual assault, but failed to act and protect the gymnasts.

Nassar pleaded guilty in 2017 and is currently serving decades in prison for his disgusting crimes. Maggie Nichols, a national champion gymnast at Oklahoma from 2017 to 2019, said, “It is time for the FBI to be held accountable”. Now however, the FBI is looking to settle the lawsuit between the gymnast. The FBI’s general counsel contacted Biles‘ and Aly Raisman’s lawyers, who are interested in finding a resolution, including a possible settlement after the Feds received the legal claim.

The victims who suffered in the Larry Nassar case brought up a big accusation that the FBI did not stopp Nassar years earlier when allegations against him first surfaced. The FBI was made aware of the situation in 2015 first, but they failed to make a formal investigation or inform the federal or state authorities in Michigan.

“For 421 days they worked with USA Gymnastics and (United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee) to hide this information from the public and allowed Nassar to continue molesting young women and girls. It is time for the FBI to be held accountable,” said Maggie Nichols according to NY Post. Former federal agents involved in the mishandling of the case and accused of giving inaccurate or incomplete responses to the inspector general during that probe did not face charges.
