US Gymnast Simone Biles has had quite the week. Biles and national soccer team star Megan Rapinoe were presented with the nation’s highest civilian honour, the Presidential Medal of Freedom. They received this honour by President Joe Biden at the White House in a ceremony recently.
Biles is the most decorated gymnast in the world, holding over 32 Olympic and World Championship medals. She has also been an outspoken advocate of mental health, as she has allowed people open up about their struggles. However, not all were happy with Biles receiving the top honour, as ex-Trump lawyer Jenna Ellis expressed her disdain for the gymnast.

Ellis’ comments were more than hurtful, and seemed to be written out of spite. Not only did she attack Biles, but she also attacked President Biden for his choices. “The person who didn’t pay attention in 6th grade civics and selfishly quit Team USA is awarded the presidential medal of freedom. Only in Joe Biden’s America,” Ellis wrote.
As Ellis continued to slander Biles and Rapinoe, the former had the perfect response for Jenna- showing her that she is of little importance to the gymnast who continues to take strides.
As many came to the defence of Biles and Rapinoe, Biles herself gave a staunch reply to the lawyer, asking on twitter, “who is Jenna Ellis? Asking for everyone”. This nonchalant comment further infuriated Jenna Ellis, but also left her without any appropriate reply.
