Suni Lee has been having quite the fantastic year at Collegiate level championships. The 19-year-old made history last year at the Tokyo Olympics after becoming the first Hmong American gymnast to compete at the Games. After winning the women’s individual all-around title at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Lee has found her place at Auburn University.

She then moved on to collegiate gymnastics, and is currently competing at Auburn University with the Tigers, where she created history for the team. Moving to Auburn, Suni is responsible for carrying the Tigers through to the NCAA Finals. Lee came second in the individual all-around event, finishing with a score of 39.6750.

Amazing Murals created for gymnastics leaves Suni Lee grateful

“First stop back home. so surreal seeing all the love and support i have. finally got to see these in person, pictures truly don’t do these murals justice,” said Lee in the caption of the Instagram post that she recently posted. The murals are in South Saint Paul, Minnesota. Lee’s grandparents, Choua and Cheu Lee, commissioned St. Paul artist Mwene Kajunju “MK,” to paint the murals.

“We want to honor Suni Lee for her accomplishments, but at the same time, this mural represents the achievement and success of the Hmong community here in the Twin Cities,” she said according to startribune.com. The mural will be featured in a music video for the “Suni Lee” song as well.
