Looking at the outstanding 2022 Super 16 performance, it’s no doubt that star gymnast Sunisa ‘Suni’ Lee is now looking forward to her participation in the 2024 Paris Olympics. She said that she is targeting more artistic gymnastics for the grand stage.

She decided to step away from collegiate gymnastics and focus more on collecting Olympic medals. The reigning champion not only changed the landscape of NCAA gymnastics but also won over her fans with mindboggling performances.

In an interview with Insider, Olympian Lee said, “I’m a little mean to myself sometimes … I wanna go to Paris, and I wanna prove to myself that I can be able to do it, because I didn’t think I would be able to do it and I didn’t think I was going to win the Olympics [in Tokyo, 2021], So this time I just wanna go a little more prepared.”

In November Suni Lee stated that she wants to retire after her 2nd season at Auburn, concentrating more on the Paris Games. She said that she came to a realization after taking a year away from elite gymnastics, “Not done with elite gymnastics and that I wanna go back and go for another Olympics”.

“I never really thought that I could be able to do that, so I wanted to get it out in the open so that I could be able to focus on both openly.” After her Tokyo Olympics win, she is looking forward to 2024, as she mentions, “That’s a lot of it, I think … I mean, last year it made it very interesting and a lot more memorable — I mean, it’s the Olympics, it’s gonna be memorable.”

Suni further added, “But there was just so much that happened you just thought would never happen …” “It was during Covid [so] we couldn’t really do anything, couldn’t go anywhere, the food we had wasn’t authentic food”. “And so I think it just kind of ruined my Tokyo experience.”

She is determined for her next grand stage performance as she wants to prove to everyone that her previous win wasn’t a fluke, it was the result of hard work. She openly admits that her inner demons of self-doubt and fret takes over her, so she’s a ‘little mean” to herself. Currently, as she pursues her dreams, her fans are waiting in line cheering for the gymnast.
