The 2024 NASCAR Cup season witnessed a huge shift to Hailie Deegan’s career, who was once thought to be the future female superstar of stock car racing. She got the much-awaited Xfinity Series opportunity with AM Racing but lost the seat before the Chicago Street race weekend wing to her disappointing performance.
Following the loss of NASCAR seat, Hailie Deegan took break and then announced her intentions to try building a career in open wheel racing. She is set to race for HMD Motorsports in the IndyCar feeder series, Indy NXT, in the upcoming 2025 season. But that doesn’t mean she is done with NASCAR, as Deegan recently admitted that she is open to a comeback.
Further talking about the point, she asserted that a top NASCAR seat demands a lot of money from the sponsor and it’s a main factor her not coming back as its hard-to-get solid sponsors. Hence when the Indy NXT opportunity was open, she took it.
NASCAR drivers have production days this week (with NASCAR, broadcasters, etc). One driver not doing them this week? Hailie Deegan, who has moved to the Indy NXT Series. Hailie Deegan explains why she took Indy NXT opportunity
Earlier speaking about her Indy NXT move, Deegan pointed out that she like all forms of racing from her childhood. That’s why she wasn’t hesitant to take the open when opportunity when it comes. Her always being more solid in the road course events also helped her to make this decision.
The comment from Deegan shows she is confident about her move to Indy NXT and has hopes of re-establishing herself as a racer with huge potential yet again. It would be interesting to see how she will perform on her new venture.
