The boxing world is no stranger to the legend Muhammad Ali. Although Ali passed away a few years back, the community still remembers him. Most recently, one of the notable Hollywood celebrities, Halle Berry, recalled her moment with the legend. Interestingly, it was not Ali’s boxing prowess that stunned her; it was something else.
Everyone knew Muhammad Ali as one of the best boxers ever. In addition to his boxing career, Ali was also a renowned activist. Despite his tough exterior, few knew the legend had a flirtatious side. For example, Hollywood star Halle Berry was taken aback when she approached Ali to congratulate him on his win. Berry recalled that the boxing legend seemingly flirted with her by complimenting her.
The boxing community and Hollywood have always had close ties over the years. Many fighters pursue acting careers, and numerous celebrities attend major fighting events. When Ali was at the peak of his career, boxing was still a growing sport.
It has since become popular, leading to collaborations between fighters and celebrities. Interestingly, one of Ali’s boxing matches even inspired a popular celebrity to create a boxing-themed movie. In 1975, the renowned Hollywood actor Sylvester Stallone attended the Muhammad Ali vs. Chuck Wepner fight night.
This event inspired Stallone to create the iconic movie Rocky. As of now, his portrayal of Rocky Balboa is considered one of the most iconic roles in cinematic history. Moreover, Stallone and Ali even shared a great camaraderie, highlighting the boxing legend’s impact on the celebrity community at the time.
When Halle Berry passed a flirtatious comment on Muhammad Ali
Muhammad Ali, formerly known as Cassius Clay, was a staunch advocate for the underprivileged in society, particularly for African Americans. He actively supported various charitable causes during his boxing career. However, in 1984, Ali was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, which confined him to a wheelchair. Despite this, he continued to contribute to the welfare of the public.
In 2011, Muhammad Ali hosted a fundraiser event in Phoenix, Arizona, where he commended several celebrities for their charity work. Hollywood star Halle Berry, a keen green activist, also attended the event. When Berry accepted her award, the Oscar-winning actress seemed to have a moment of clarity. As such, she even expressed her wish to marry Ali.
The wife of the three-time World Heavyweight Champion, Lonnie Ali, was shocked after hearing that. However, they all laughed it off. She specifically mentioned the infamous Thrilla in Manila fight between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier back in 1975. Ali was an inspiration for many, and Halle Berry was star-struck by that.
