Hamad Medjedovic recalled the time when compatriot Novak Djokovic reached his first Olympic final and took on Carlos Alcaraz at Roland Garros. Every fan in Serbia was rooting for Djokovic, who later emerged as the champion with a straight-set win.
That was the only big title the 37-year-old had failed to win before the Paris Olympics. The bronze medal at the Beijing Olympics was his first in the quadrennial tournament.
But at a time when tennis players give more importance to Grand Slam events, Djokovic called the win in Paris his biggest achievement. Medjedovic also feels the same as he pointed out how Djokovic was waiting to accomplish the Career Golden Slam to further solidify his status as a legend of the game.
I remember when Djokovic and Alcaraz were playing, all the streets were empty. You could only hear the screams, the voices of people screaming. I think that in recent years, in sporting terms, this is the greatest result we have achieved. Everyone was waiting for him to win. Obviously, he did everything, except that one. We were all very happy after his victory.Hamad Medjedovic told ATPTour.com
Djokovic also received a grand welcome in Serbia as thousands of fans thronged the street to greet the 24-time Grand Slam champion, who waved at them from the Belgrade City Hall Balcony. The Serb also shared the video on X which has garnered over 2 million views.

I think the Challenger Tour is the level that everyone has to go through in order to get to the ATP, the level we are all aiming for. I think the level on the Challenger Tour is pretty scary.Hamad Medjedovic said
The previous big tournament Medjedovic played was the Wimbledon Championships in June. He entered the SW19 as a Qualifier but failed to get past Beibit Zhukayev in his second match of the Qualifier round.
