Talking about the road to the final, Rublev after clearing the initial rounds, has bamboozled his opponents in both the quarters and the semis encounter. The 22-year old Russian first sailed past 4th-seed Roberto Bautista Agut 6-2, 7-5 in the last-eight match and then demolished in-form Casper Ruud in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 in the semifinal. The World No.14 is in ominous form and is looking determined to win the ATP 500 event.

On the other hand, after clearing the initial hurdles, Tsitsipas has had to battle really hard to make it to the final. The 22-year old Greek got the better of Dusan Lajovic 7-6, 6-2 in the quarters. However, the World No.6 played his toughest match of the tournament in the semifinal. Tsitsipas literally had to dig deep and put every ounce of his energy to beat Cristian Garin 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 in a three-set thriller.

The two players are deadlocked at 1-1 in the head-to-head meets. Their last meeting came in the first round at the US Open in 2019, when Rublev stunned Tsitsipas by overcoming the challenge of the Greek 6-4, 6-7, 7-6, 7-5 in a tough and an exhausting encounter. So, whoever wins the final tomorrow in Hamburg, will gain an upper hand in the head-to-head record for the time being.

Andrey Rublev

The prediction is never easy when two talented stars of a sport go against each other. The only thing that separates the two athletes right now is their form throughout the tournament. Barring one contest that went to the distance against Tommy Paul, Rublev has looked in imperious touch and hasn’t lost a set after that match in Hamburg.

Though Tsitsipas also has dropped just one set this week, the matches he has won has been more closer, than that of Rublev. The Russian, therefore, has surely done enough at the Hamburg Open to go with him as the man winning the final tomorrow. It doesn’t rule out, though, a nail-biting finish.
