Hamburg Open 2020: Tommy Paul vs Andrey Rublev Preview, Head-to-Head, Prediction

Qualifier Tommy Paul will look to continue from where he left as he faces fifth-seed Andrey Rublev in a second-round encounter at the Hamburg Open 2020. Both players have produced some dominant wins over their respective opponents so far in the ATP 500 event, making the contest a must-watch.
Tommy Paul vs Andrey Rublev: Preview

Talking about the performance in the tournament so far, Tommy Paul has looked impressive, to say the least from the first match he played in Hamburg. The 23-year old American, after sailing through the qualifiers, had a difficult opponent in the form of two-time Grand Slam finalist Kevin Anderson. Paul, though, managed to pull off a cliffhanger, edging past Anderson 6-4, 0-6, 6-4 in a three-set thriller.
On the other hand, Andrey Rublev had an easy outing in his opening round contest. The 22-year old Russian breezed past another American Tennys Sandgren in straight sets 6-3, 6-3. Rublev has a golden opportunity to at least reach the semis and he will leave no stone unturned in doing so.
Tommy Paul vs Andrey Rublev: Head-to-Head

Prior to their meeting in Hamburg, Tommy Paul and Andrey Rublev have faced each other only once in 2018. It was a Round of 32 match in Washington D.C. in which Rublev emerged victorious 7-6, 6-4. So the Russian leads the head-to-head record 1-0.
Tommy Paul vs Andrey Rublev: Prediction

Although Paul has already shown in the tournament that he is an emerging talent, his run may get halted by Rublev. A straight-set victory is on the cards for the Russian and only if Tommy Paul manages to bring his A-game, then we may head for a nail-biting finish. However, it’s possibility looks less likely.
Match Prediction: Andrey Rublev defeats Tommy Paul comprehensively in straight sets.
