Hansi Flick took over the reins of Barcelona as the head coach from Xavi Hernandez after the team came second in the last edition of the La Liga, finishing with 85 points, 10 adrift of Real Madrid who finished as the champions. Their fortunes didn’t turn in the Europe either as they crashed out of UEFA Champions League after defeat at the hands of PSG by a 4-6 aggregate.

In his very first interview for Barcelona, Hansi Flick made it very clear that it is too early to say what should be the fate of the Catalans in the league. While he was asked whether his team has the potential to be the champions of the league, he sought time to make a concrete statement.

In training we will work really hard. We have to give 100% in those sessions to take it out on to the pitch. That intensity has been seen in the recent training sessions as the squad prepare for the tour of the US. We will take 30 or 31 players on the tour, we want to see them all. We have a lot of players in each position and we can choose.
Hansi Flick said in his first presser as the Barcelona manager

The Catalans will be starting their pre-season against Manchester City while following it up with a clash against Real Madrid. AC Milan will be up next before they meet Monaco in the Joan Gamper Trophy which is also their last friendly ahead of the upcoming season. They would eventually be starting their season with a battle against Valencia.

Now Barça can make signings of the magnitude we are talking about. The fans have been patient and we are in a position to carry out any operation in the market, we will keep you informed shortly.
Joan Laporta said on the presser ahead of Barcelona’s upcoming pre- season games when asked about the signing of Nico Williams

The demand for Nico Williams has shot through the roofs after his sensational display in the Euro 2024 for Spain where he combined brilliantly with Lamine Yamal on the wings to help La Roja lift their fourth Euro championship. Barcelona is desperate to land Nico Williams to replicate the similar touch that the duo of Williams and Yamal produced in Germany.
