Indian stalwart Virat Kohli has not scored many runs in red-ball cricket as he made his comeback in the longest format of the game after close to a year. He was absent from the five-match Test series against England at the start of the year due to the birth of his son. As he is coming back after a long break, he did not score much in the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai. Kohli scored 6 runs in the first innings and 17 in the second innings.

However, Indian batter, Hanuma Vihari, feels that Kohli needs the time and be in the right space of mind to get going after a long gap in Test cricket. Vihari also thinks that India does not need to worry about the form of Kohli as he will stand up when the team needs him to deliver.

I wouldn’t say crucial. Virat Kohli needs to be in a good state of mind. I know he has not played Tests for a while now. He missed out on the England Test series due to his commitments. But coming back to Tests after a while, it takes time to get into your groove, to get that mental space and to have that routine back. India should not be concerned with Virat’s form because we know when the real Test comes he will stand up.

Hanuma Vihari said in a media conference

India is currently facing Bangladesh in the second Test match in Kanpur. After this, they will face New Zealand in a two-match Test series at home before flying to Australia for the five-match Border-Gavaskar series. Kohli will be an integral part of the series and India will need him be in the best frame of mind when he takes on the Aussies at their own den.

Virat Kohli has currently scored 8871 runs in Test cricket

Kohli will need to do more so that he can end his Test career with over 10,000 runs at an average of more than 50. He has currently scored 80 hundreds across all formats in international cricket, and needs 20 more to equal the great Sachin Tendulkar who has scored 100 centuries in international cricket.
