Hardik Pandya’s selection in the Indian team was under question for a long time thanks to his injury records. Things got worse for him when he was appointed as Mumbai Indians’ captain, where he received loads of hate. This caused a further dip in form as it affected him mentally.

Hardik Pandya was recently announced as the vice-captain of the Indian side for the 2024 T20 World Cup, much to the disappointment of fans, as many wanted him out of the team. The all-rounder has managed only 197 runs in 9 innings and ended his 10th innings with a duck.

Coming in to bat in the 6th over of the innings, Pandya lasted only a delivery as Naveen-Ul-Haq bowled a peach to get his wicket. Pandya committed to the line and edged the ball to KL Rahul, who caught it.

Sunil Gavaskar believes Hardik Pandya will bring his best in T20 World Cup

Hardik Pandya has not done well with bat or ball in the 2024 IPL, scoring only 197 runs in 10 innings and averaging 56.75 with the ball (stats taken before LSG vs MI on 3th April). Despite this poor run, former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar believes Pandya will perform above expectations in the World Cup.

There's a big difference playing in the IPL and playing for your country. Playing for your country brings out something different in every player and Hardik Pandya will be a different player.
Sunil Gavaskar on Star Sports

Gavaskar admitted that Pandya isn’t having the best time in the IPL, but will be in a different mindset once he plays for India. He added that Pandya will most probably be in a positive state-of-mind and will perform in the World Cup.
