Harisson Butker’s controversial statement indicating that Jews were behind the death of Jesus Christ gets debunked, kicker finds himself in the epicentre of spreading misinformation
Butker's 20-minute speech at the Benedictine College has come into the limelight for all the wrong reasons.

The Kansas City Chiefs placekicker Harrison Butker finds himself in the news for all the wrong reasons. Regarded as one of the most skilled athletes at his position in the NFL, he created quite a stir after his commencement speech at the Benedictine College. He is a purely conservative man in terms of religion and political values, which is why most of his opinions with respect to the ‘traditional’ role of women and abortion are contrary to modern beliefs.
The alleged sexism part aside, a fairly unnoticed bit in Harrison Butker‘s speech that is perhaps not getting as much attention as it should, is his jibe towards President Joe Biden for the introduction of a bill to condemn antisemitism in the country.
We fear speaking truth, because now, unfortunately, truth is in the minority. Congress just passed a bill where stating something as basic as the biblical teaching of who killed Jesus could land you in jail.Harrison Butker said
The issue here is that Butker is alluding to the notion that Jewish people were behind the death of Jesus Christ. He dubbed this to be a fact when, in reality, it has been disproved on numerous occasions. As pointed out by Yvette Walker of the Kansas City Star, the Church itself has come out and made it clear that Jews cannot be blamed for the death of Jesus.
Harrison Butker underestimated the impact of his words and their reach
In the 1960s, the Second Vatican Council declared that the Jewish population could not be held collectively accountable for the death of Christ. To bring up a more recent event, Pope Benedict XVI, in 2011 stated in his personal reflection, Jesus of Nazareth: From the Entrance Jerusalem to the Resurrection (Vol 2) wherein he doubled down on the Council’s take and made it clear that there was no basis in the Scriptures to blame the Jews.
To make comments such as these which practically endanger an entire community is reckless, to say the least. The Jewish community has, for the longest time, endured back-to-back difficulties and has had to suffer through some of the worst massacres in the history of mankind. The belief that they were behind the death of Christ is nothing more than pure antisemitism and is attempted to make an entire community look bad.
Butker did not gauge the impact that his speech would have on the masses. It is shocking, to say the least. It came as no surprise that Benedictine College wanted him because the institution is a private Catholic liberal college and the leaders knew what they were getting themselves into by calling the kicker to deliver the commencement speech.
His takes on the subject of LGBTQ Pride month, abortion, and lockdowns imposed during COVID-19 for the protection of the masses leave one stunned. In order to fully grasp why his speech is such a controversial issue and concerning, one has to read the true script in its entirety.
His comments directed at women, deeming their aspirations to be nothing more than “diabolical lies” and limiting their life’s purpose to “marriage and the children” that they will bring into this world make one wonder. He is free to have his own set of beliefs, make no mistake, but there is something unsettling about a man in his position preaching that women are nothing more than mere homemakers while his own mother is an accomplished physicist.
His speech was met with cheers, and unsurprisingly so. For the speech that he gave, this was the right crowd, but there were women amongst the crowd who disagreed with his opinions on their role.
His jersey sales witnessed a surge after his speech but the NFL, on the contrary, was quick to distance itself from him while the Kansas City Chiefs remained silent. Gracie Hunt, the daughter of Clark Hunt, defended him in light of this controversy.
