For the first time since his record-breaking contract extension, Harrison Butker faced the media and made his stance clear about his speech at the Catholic institution. The Kansas City Chiefs placekicker clarified that he loves ‘women’ and will not change his view.
On Wednesday, Butker was one of the speakers following practice for the Chiefs. He discussed his recent contract extension, but the interview quickly switched, focusing more on his speech on women earlier this year.
The 29-year-old quickly shrugged it off and stated that he loved women and stood behind what he said because the statement was from a place of love, not hate.
I was very intentional with what I said, and I stand by what I said, and I really believe. If people knew me as a person and understood that I was coming from a place of love and not try to attack or put people down and only want the best for people, and that’s what I was trying to say.Harrison Butker said per FOX4KC reporter PJ Green

Harrison Butker claims his statement was never meant to hurt the sentiments of women
Butker’s statement did not go down too well on social media. It generated tremendous hate, which led to the talks of demanding his expulsion from football. However, the three-time Super Bowl winner stuck to his guns.
On Wednesday, he painted a much clearer picture of what he tried conveying at the commencement ceremony. In Butker’s view, his intention was never to belittle women but rather to explain the great aspect of being mothers and wives.
When I use that [a platform] to talk about women, [then] I say that they should embrace and love being a mother and a wife over their careers. I think then it gets… that I am trying to women down, which I am not at all. I love women and my wife.Harrison Butker said
His wife Isabelle Butker was reportedly present during her husband’s now infamous speech, and he got emotional seeing her cry.
She [Isabelle] has sacrificed so much for me. She has completely changed her life around, and she has made sure to be focused on being the ultimate wife and ultimate mother, and I love her so much for that, and I see how happy she is to wake up day to day and embrace that life… [And] she pushes me to be a better husband and a better father and focus on my three children and focus on her over trying to be the best kicker.Harrison Butker said
Butker recently signed a four-year, $25.6 million contract with the Kansas City Chiefs. He is currently the highest-paid kicker in the league, leaping over the Ravens Justin Tucker.
