The Kansas City Chiefs locked down Harrison Butker with a four-year deal. He’s now the highest-paid kicker in the NFL.
Rumors were floating last week about a long-term extension for Butker, who helped the Chiefs win three Super Bowls and are in line for a historic three-peat. NFL.com‘s Ian Rapoport via Kevin Patra first announced the news on Monday that the Chiefs agreed to a four-year $25.6 million contract extension with Harrison Butker.
The new deal will keep him at the Arrowhead until 2028, unless they relocate. Butker cemented his place as the highest-earning kicker in the league, jumping over the Ravens’ Justin Tucker and the Eagles’ Jake Elliott, who earn $6 million a year.

Harrison Butker’s new contract divides opinion on social media
Butker’s new $25.6 million deal includes $6.4 million a year in salary, and 17.75 million fully guaranteed money. It’s massive news for the reigning Super Bowl champions, aiming for three consecutive Lombardi triumphs. However, not everyone took the announcement kindly.

During the offseason, the 29-year-old found himself shrouded in controversy following his speech at a Catholic college in Kansas City, Missouri. His speech allegedly included misogynist, sexist, and derogatory views of women.
Butker became the target of Swifties for using a song by Taylor Swift in his argument. Since then, a section of social media has demanded his expulsion from not just the Chiefs but also from football altogether. However, the Chiefs kept the noise out and rewarded Butker with a new deal for his skillset.

Wow.. the Chiefs are resigning a racist misogynist who thinks women have no place in this world other than to serve their husband? I don't know how much longer I can root for an organization that makes decisions like these. @Chiefs do better. https://t.co/HGqZXX1Ume

After signing the new contract, Butker wrote a message for the Chiefs Kingdom on X. He claimed to be grateful for the extension, adding that he doesn’t picture himself in any other jersey.
There’s no place I’d rather be than with the Chiefs, excited to finalize a 4 year extension. To the Heights!Harrison Butker wrote

Butker holds the record for the longest field goal scored (57 yards) in Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII, which was still 5 yards (62 yards) shorter than his longest back in 2022. He dispatched 89.1% of his field goal attempts in the regular season and has an 88.9% success rate of 36 field goal attempts in the postseason (including the Super Bowl).
