Goals have been synonymous with Bayern Munich striker and England skipper Harry Kane. The 30-year-old’s first season with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich had a lot of goals, which eventually earned him the Bundesliga Golden Boot. Despite all the goals and broken records, Kane is yet to claim what he desires the most – a trophy.
The Bayern No.9 broke the record for most goals scored in a Bundesliga debut season earlier held by Uwe Seeler. On top of that, Kane has also claimed the record for most direct goal contributions for an Englishman in the UCL and many others. As Bayern end their season without silverware for the first time in over 12 years, fans couldn’t help but notice Kane’s ‘bad luck’ when it came to winning trophies.
His 36 goals in the Bundesliga and 8 more in the Champions League meant that no other player in Europe has more! A whopping 44 goals in his debut season for the club washes away any margin for doubt as to whether he brings goals for the club.
However, with Thomas Tuchel leaving and Bayern Munich appointing Vincent Kompany, fans are worried if his unfortunate streak is set to continue.
Fans react to Harry Kane’s European Golden Shoe award
Harry Kane is the European Golden Shoe winner for the 2023/24 season. After an ‘incredible’ debut season, Kane finally has something to smile about for all his efforts for the Bavarians.
The forward beat the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Serhou Guirassy and Erling Haaland to the award. Reacting to the same, a fan couldn’t help but wonder if Kane was cursed, given his ability to score goals but not win trophies.
Some were confident that he was winning the Ballon d’Or while others laughed at how he had nothing except a shoe to show for his 36 goals in the Bundesliga. Many fans crossed their fingers and hoped that he’ll be redeemed when he leads England to the 2024 Euros. Bayern fans were confident that he is the best striker in the world without a shadow of doubt.
Bayern’s ‘bad luck’ saw them miss out on the Bundesliga title to Xabi Alonso‘s Bayer Leverkusen while also getting knocked out by FC Saarbrucken in the DFB-Pokal. To make things worse, their last-minute exit from the UCL in the semi-final at the hands of Real Madrid was their most unfortunate moment by far. Kane, with 8 goals, will most likely finish the season as top scorer in the UCL as well.
