Harry Kane recently made headlines for refusing to lift a friendly trophy against former side Tottenham Hotspur. The Englishman is currently in his second full season with Bayern Munich after a rather ‘impressive’ debut season. Even though the club went trophyless last season, fans are looking forward to set things straight under new manager Vincent Kompany.
Despite a brilliant goal scoring record at club level, Harry Kane was heavily criticized for his failure to convert chances at Euro 2024. Former Bayern legend Lothar Matthaus has gone on the record to state that the 31-year-old striker will have a far more difficult season compared to the last. Kane bagged 36 League goals last season, breaking the record for most goals scored in a debut season in the Bundesliga.
The newness and freshness from last year has gone for now and it'll be more difficult for him. I don't think he'll score 36 goals again.Lothar Matthaus told Sport Bild
Fans are excited for a new season under new manager Vincent Kompany and will hope that the Bavarians reclaim bragging rights from Xabi Alonso‘s Bayer Leverkusen.
Harry Kane reflects on ‘hectic’ year under Thomas Tuchel
FC Bayern ‘got rid of’ Thomas Tuchel after being dethroned in the Bundesliga by Leverkusen. The Bavarians also came up short in the UEFA Champions League, despite Harry Kane’s best efforts. Following a recent friendly match against Tottenham, Kane opened up about his last year since joining Bayern.
It was a hectic twelve months, in terms of both football and personally. We were one game away from having a wonderful summer but it wasn't to be.Harry Kane said in a post-match interview
The forward also spoke about former rival turned manager Vincent Kompany as a likeable personality and that he is still getting to know him.
Kane has only played two games since returning to the club following the Euros. He is yet to break his ‘trophy’ curse and fans are hopeful that he finally manages to do so. Bayern play their first Bundesliga game against VfL Wolfsburg on the 25th of August.
