The first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals have gotten underway. Arsenal took on Bayern Munich and Real Madrid hosted defending champions Manchester City as UCL nights made a return. For the first game, Arsenal were forced to finish the game with two goals apiece. While many argued whether the Gunners deserved a penalty in the final minute, Bukayo Saka certainly felt that his side were robbed.

Despite the hosts taking an early lead in the game, Bayern were quick to fire back. A goal from Serge Gnabry and a penalty from Harry Kane saw Arsenal go behind just 20 minutes later. Following the full-time whistle, cameras captured a moment shared between Saka and former Tottenham Hotspur captain Kane. A quick look at their body language shows just how frustrated Saka was.

In a highly controversial call, the match official chose not to award the hosts a penalty in the final minute of the game. Saka was through on goal before an outstretched leg from Manuel Neuer sent the former tumbling down to the turf.

The viral video shows Saka flinging his arms sideways, visibly frustrated by the official’s decision. In the end, the two shook hands and hugged each other before heading down the tunnel.

Arsenal held at home by resolute Bayern side

Four goals, several yellow cards and 90 minutes later, the highly awaited quarter-final match between Bayern Munich and Arsenal ended with all to play for in the second leg. Bukayo Saka emphatically fired his side into the lead early on, when the youngster skilfully whipped the ball past Manuel Neuer as the ball dropped to him at the edge of the box.

The hosts were quickly pushed back by Thomas Tuchel‘s men, when Serge Gnabry pounced on a quick counter-attack set up by Leroy Sane. His shot, despite being aimed directly at the keeper, found its way to the back of the net. Just as the crowd recovered from the equalizer, the referee pointed to the spot as Sane, who ran through half the Arsenal squad was brought down inside the box.

Up stepped Harry Kane, who without a fraction of a doubt placed his shot into the bottom right corner past David Raya. Arsenal, who were trailing for the majority of the second half, mustered an impressive equalizer, orchestrated through Gabriel Jesus and fired home by Leandro Trossard. A game that truly lived up to its billing, fans are thrilled as to how Thomas Muller and co. will do justice to his ‘challenge’ aimed at Kai Havertz prior to the game.
