Karim Benzema‘s departure from Real Madrid last season posed a significant dilemma for Real Madrid. The Frenchman’s departure to the Saudi Pro League resulted in a significant void up top for the Los Blancos, with them being in need of a competent replacement. While Madrid eventually brought in Joselu and signed Jude Bellingham, they played out the larger part of the season without a proper number 9.

Harry Kane currently plays in the Bundesliga for German giants Bayern Munich. As the Bavarians prepare to face off against Madrid in the Champions League semi-final, a shocking revelation reveals that Kane was number one on Real Madrid‘s wishlist! The Englishman is undoubtedly one of the best strikers in modern football, with his statistics speaking for itself.

As per reports, Carlo Ancelotti‘s primary preference was the former Tottenham Hotspur captain. It is understood that Ancelotti wanted him more than Jude Bellingham himself!

However, club President Florentino Perez ‘blocked’ the move and made the risk to play this season without a proper striker. As things stand, Perez is set to get his way, as Kylian Mbappe is heavily rumored to sign with Real upon expiry of his PSG contract.

After a thrilling domestic season, Madrid look all set to reclaim the La Liga title from rivals FC Barcelona. However, the same cannot be said for Bayern Munich. Despite an extremely impressive debut season from Harry Kane, Bayern have been underwhelming domestically.

The Bavarians missed out on the League title for the first time since the 2012/13 season. Kane’s mind-blowing 35 League goals weren’t enough to beat Bayer Leverkusen as they clinched their first-ever Bundesliga crown.

While Thomas Tuchel had given up all hope in the Bundesliga, the Germans will be out for blood as they take on Jude Bellingham and co. in the Champions League. The first leg is set to be played at the Allianz Arena and the return leg 8 days later in Spain. Fans are thrilled as they prepare to witness what will arguably be the most fiery clash this season.
