Harry Maguire is, by not much fault of his own, one of the most hated players in the Premier League. Poor form and unlucky mistakes have made him subject to harsh criticism over the years.

It is a common sight to see the England international come under hate and criticism for making unfortunate errors or when United lose a game. In a recent interview, Maguire gave insight into how he managed to overcome the same and get his ‘malfunctioning’ United career back on track. Maguire pointed to how playing for such a huge club has expectations and criticism attached to it.

I love playing for it (United). There are so many ups and downs & scrutiny and everyone knows that. You have to get used to it and deal with it. You just have to look after yourself and not look much into it. Then you can approach the matchday with confidence

After signing for Manchester United from Leicester City back in 2019 for a fee in the region of £80 million, Maguire has arguably not been able to live up to his price tag. With the departure of Raphael Varane, Maguire is set to receive a much greater role in defense next season.

Manchester United have the golden chance to claim silverware this season in the upcoming FA Cup final. The Red Devils booked their spot in the final against local rivals Manchester City after beating Coventry City and Liverpool in the process. However, the club will have to be at their very best if they are to overcome the newly crowned Premier League champions.

Defensive stalwart Harry Maguire has given reason for concern after recently admitting that his availability is still in the balance for the final. With just two days left for the final on the 25th, Maguire still hasn’t received the green light. The player picked up a muscle injury at the start of the month, with initial assessments pointing to a three-week recovery period.

I still don't know if I'll be fit in time. I'm hoping to be fit in time for the final but it's touch and go. It's probably the first time I'm having muscle injuries throughout the season.

The United No.5 added that it was frustrating to miss so many matches because of injury and that he always wants to play. With a little bit of luck, Maguire may just be on the pitch against City on Saturday night.
