Harshit Rana picked up the wicket of Abhishek Porel in the first innings of the clash between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Capitals (DC). The wicketkeeper-batter tried to play the ball behind the stumps in the past few deliveries but was unsuccessful. Rana finally got his man by bowling on the stumps as Porel tried to ramp it, dismantling the stumps.
As Porel walked to the pavilion, Harshit Rana sent him off. He tried to recreate the blowing kiss celebration, which he did on Mayank Agarwal in their season opener, but backed out. Rana most probably realized he would get fined by the IPL once again and hence backed out.
Rana completed his spell with the figures of 2/28, bowling his four overs. He didn’t have a great day when it came to fielding though. The pacer dropped the catches of Rishabh Pant and Kuldeep Yadav, as DC posted a target of 153/9.
Fans joke over Harshit Rana’s reluctance to send off Abhishek Porel
When fans saw the incident live, many joked on how Rana must’ve been scared to send off Abhishek Porel. They joked that he must’ve remembered that he got fined last time and needed to make sure he didn’t get fined again. Some called for him to still get fined as he did send off Porel after bowling him, while many criticized the IPL code of conduct.
Check out their reactions:
DC scored the lowest total of the season at the Eden Gardens. It has regularly seen high scoring matches. Although the pitch is tough to bat on, DC have a challenge on their hand to defend 154, the lowest target chased if KKR do chase it.
