Ahead of the Week 10 game against the New England Patriots, DJ Moore was asked on the Bernstein and Holmes Show if he felt Coach Matt Eberflus had “lost this football team.” The recently extended player’s response was noticeably reserved, lacking a strong endorsement of his head coach.

I want to say no. The message yesterday was that we know we’re 4-4 now. It’s just like being 0-0. But you’ve just got to go out there and start stacking wins like we did. And that’s the best thing you can do is win and let the chips fall how they fall after they do so.

DJ Moore said

DJ Moore finds himself in a familiar situation to his time with the Carolina Panthers: an elite wide receiver posting strong numbers, yet not seeing results translate to team success. The Bears structured their roster around Caleb Williams with the expectation of making a playoff push, but their 4-4 record has fallen short of those ambitions.

Midway through the season, the Chicago Bears and Matt Eberflus are going back to the drawing board

The Chicago Bears’ offense haven’t been at their best this season. They have consistently struggled to put up points in the first quarter, an issue DJ Moore highlighted during a recent radio appearance.

The Bears have Caleb Williams, drafted first overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, at the centre to lead their team. RB D’Andre Swift and a strong receiving corps featuring Moore, six-time Pro Bowler Keenan Allen, and 2024 first-round pick Rome Odunze form a core with Williams. They currently rank 28th in total yards and 19th in points per game.

Despite the challenging times, Matt Eberflus defended his offensive coordinator Shane Waldron, noting that he wouldn’t remove Waldron from play calling. Moore confirmed the coach’s thoughts, suggesting that they are going to go back to the drawing board and try to change certain things.

Nah, I don’t think that’ll happen. We just gotta go back to the drawing board and start putting people in different positions to be able to move the ball, stay on the same page and stick together.

Matt Eberflus told the reporters

The Bears have a relatively easy game next week against the Patriots. Following the Patriots game, the Bears face an extremely difficult stretch in the coming weeks. Every opponent holds a winning record or sitting at .500, except for the Seattle Seahawks. In terms of divisional games, they are playing the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers twice. There’s one Detroit Lions game as well.
