Ex-England manager Gareth Southgate being reportedly targeted for USMNT head coach position
The US Soccer Federation is reportedly eyeing former England manager Gareth Southgate to fill the vacant USMNT head coach position, following Gregg Berhalter‘s dismissal after the Copa America.
The 53-year-old resigned from England’s top post, following the Three Lions’ second consecutive Euro final defeat. Southgate reached two major finals, a semifinal and a quarterfinal in his eight years with England. His addition to the US team could elevate their performance, improve their future prospects.
However, sources indicate that the 53-year-old is aiming for a managerial role in the Premier League. The USMNT is also considering other candidates, including Patrick Vieira, Jim Curtin, and Steve Cherundolo.
