While Josh Allen is making amends with the Buffalo Bills’ new receivers, in order to, avoid repeating the mistakes with Stefon Diggs, the latter is also working on building a good bond with his new quarterback, CJ Stroud. Although it’s still early to see how well it goes, Diggs has already sensed something special about the Houston Texans’ star quarterback.
When the Texans traded in the former Bills receiver, they were excited about adding such a strong offensive weapon to the team. But at the same time, they were worried about his locker room reputation and whether he would form a good pair with Stroud.
However, seeing the veteran receiver talk about Stroud and his new team during Monday’s press conference, it appears Diggs indeed wishes to be a threat for the opposing team, instead of the locker room.
[No.] 7 [CJ Stroud] is special. I think everybody kind of knows that. I must reiterate it though because I’ve seen it firsthand and taking it play after play and building, so it’s a work in progress.Stefon Diggs said
Pairing Diggs with Stroud, the Texans have created a threatening duo and made their offense bulletproof. As much as Stroud’s rookie season sparkled, Diggs also posted his sixth consecutive season exceeding the 1,000-yard mark.
Stefon Diggs emphasizes open communication with quarterback CJ Stroud
While talking about the reigning Rookie of the Year, the Pro Bowler receiver also addressed how his relationship with him is working out. He admitted that it’s still quite early to say anything, but it’s certainly not going to be perfect because it’s hard to be on the same page after each and every game.
Diggs was then asked about how his relationship with Stroud has been going.
It’s a work in progress. I’m not going to say everything is perfect, but you see us kind of getting of that same page here and there. And nothing is going to be perfect. I starve for it, we grind for it, but getting on the same page play after play and that communication, that open line of communication, I feel like that’s going to really separate it seeing that we have such a small period of time.Stefon Diggs added
The Texans’ newly-signed receiver further added that he is not thinking of reinventing himself in any manner, claiming it’s “not his first rodeo.” He stated that his team may have the chance but football isn’t and therefore, he is going to be the same force of power as he was on his previous team.
