Hawaii crowd ERUPTS with ‘MVP’ chants for Stephen Curry at pre-season game

Hawaii has been the Golden State Warriors training camp location for the past week. In preparation for their preseason matchup with the Los Angeles Clippers, the Warriors traveled to the University of Hawaii from BYU. It is located on the north shore of Oahu. Notably, Stephen Curry stole the headlines in the matchup against the Clippers.
It is always a thrilling moment when teams fly to Hawaii for preseason and training camp because there are no NBA franchises there. Furthermore, fans were in immense numbers to watch the 4-time NBA champion face the Clippers. Not only that, during a particular period in the second quarter, the Hawaiian fans erupted with ‘MVP’ chants towards Curry.
Moreover, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr disclosed to reporters before the game that star point guard Steph Curry would play only until the first half. On the other hand, James Harden started this game in place of Clippers star Kawhi Leonard, who is sidelined due to right knee rehabilitation. Curry put on a good show for the fans.
Curry played only around 14 minutes and ended the game with 9 points, one assist, and two rebounds. The Warriors saw out a narrow 90-91 win in Hawaii. However, these matches are mainly for the players to return to match fitness. Nevertheless, Curry and Co. will be looking to make an early impression in the upcoming NBA season.

Curry opened up about what it was like to team up with James. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar was the MVP of the Olympic games. Meanwhile, Curry saved Team USA in the semi-finals and finals. Their combined strength overwhelmed everyone else. As such, the Warriors spoke about another potential team-up.
All the battles we’ve had on the court and the back and forth, the fact that we actually got to be teammates, not just in any game like an All-Star game or whatever, but in high stakes basketball with a lot on the line… I think there’s a deepened respect and friendship there… Hopefully, there will be more experiences in the future, even if we’re teammates or not.

The Golden State Warriors superstar also admitted that even though he wanted to see them team up, there was still work to be done. When they meet as rivals in the new season, supporters of both teams will be interested to see how they get along. However, one can expect both stars to showcase immense professionalism on the court when they come up against each other in the upcoming NBA season.
