World No.1, Novak Djokovic has been in the news following his withdrawal from ATP Player Council earlier this week in a matter of ‘conflict of interest’ as stated by the Serb in his address to his followers on social media.

Shortly after quitting as the President of the ATP Player’s Council in August, Djokovic formed the PTPA (Professional Tennis Players’ Association) along with co-founder and player, Vasek Pospisil.

Following Novak’s formation of the PTPA, ATP passed a new rule stating that no player having a ‘conflict of interest’ with any other similar body can be elected to the Player Council. The change in rule overnight by the ATP seemed like the body is pursuing a personal vendetta against the Serbian.

Veteran Swiss tennis star Stanislas Wawrinka has opened up about his equations with 17-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic after the drama circling around the World No.1.

‘I get along very well with him’ – Stan Wawrinka

Novak Djokovic put his persistent issues with the men’s governing body to bed a few days back when he withdrew his candidature from the Player Council Elections held this month. Moreover, the Serbian’s politically outspoken character has not been accepted well by his peers, allegedly making him arrogant.

However, the 3-time Slam champion, Wawrinka who has trained with Djokovic stated that he has never had any issues with him. The 35-year-old veteran said he enjoys cordial ties with the Serbian superstar who the Swiss thinks is simply being true to his outspoken character.

“Personally, I get along very well with him, we often train together. But he has his character, he makes his choices,” Wawrinka said in an interview with a Swiss publication.
