Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer in conversation with Raj Shamani said that he admires India’s budding young opener, Shubman Gill. Iyer believes that Gill’s technique is so sound that it is impossible to find a flaw. He also gave his verdict on whether he could be the next Virat Kohli.
Iyer is amazed by Shubman Gill’s ability to switch between formats with ease and adapt to playing conditions. He thinks Gill is a ‘complete batsman’ who is constantly hungry for more. Shubman Gill is currently with the Indian Team in Dominica for the West Indies tour starting tomorrow with a two-match Test series. It is likely that he will be seen in action at Windsor Park.
Shubman Gill has scored 921 runs in 16 Tests, 1,311 runs in 24 ODIs and 202 runs in 6 T20I matches. He is currently one of the best top-order batters in the new generation for India. He has played some crucial knocks for the team already like his precious innings of 91 at the Gabba in the 2021 Border Gavaskar Trophy.

Venkatesh Iyer thinks Shubman Gill is already a superstar
When asked whether Shubman Gill will break all records for India and if he can be the next superstar after Virat Kohli, Iyer said, “He is already a superstar. The man who can make a hundred in all three formats, a double hundred in ODIs and play innings as he played in the Gabba Test is already a superstar. It’s on how he consistently keeps performing and make India win.”
Venkatesh Iyer elaborated on how his admiration for Shubman Gill is because of his sound technique and that he believes in Gill’s potential. Shubman Gill was with team India in the 2023 WTC Final as well and is returning in whites starting tomorrow.
