He is just not appreciated: Baron Davis on comparing Lebron James with Michael Jordan
Not many can achieve what Lebron James have accomplished in his long-career in the NBA. Longevity being the key for success, James would enter his 18th season, looking to defend his ring with a strong Los Angeles Lakers squad. Not just about individual accolades, but also the leadership role he has played, has been beyond description. Similar was done by Michael Jordan with his dream Chicago Bulls team.
Although these two leads the G.O.A.T debate, some feel Lebron is still within no comparison as his legacy is still being written. Former NBA player Baron Davis joined the “Load Management” podcast by Complex, where he talked about if ‘Bron is appreciated by the fans.
Michael Jordan comparison with Michael Jordan
Baron Davis said, “Absolutely not… He is just not appreciated. It’s like, is good like, LeBron, he thrives off haters, right? Jordan thrives off haters, the greats thrive off haters and being hated. You know what I mean, but ridiculed and you know what I mean, and kind of pent up for, you know, dissection.”
Even after reaching such great heights in the league, LBJ is always criticized for one thing or another. However, in a few years, he’ll be gone from the game of basketball. This would leave an everlasting impact on the league.
To defend the title successfully Lakers would have to fill the role of Rondo, if he leaves. Not only that but the Lakers would want to fill a serious loophole in their squad, which is shooting from behind the arc. Having won the 2019-20 championship, the team still was considered as of the weakest 3-point shooting squad of the season.
Moreover, having a better team around will enhance LeBron’s chances of getting a few more rings. Having said that, it is only up to time to unravel the answered whether or not Lebron would be able to add to his legacy or not.
