He is not a bad teammate: Meyers Leonard on Jimmy Butler
Jimmy Butler
Jimmy Butler was the major reason why Miami Heat did so well in the playoffs of 2019-20. Being the underdogs ever since they entered the playoffs, the Miami Heat squad turned up their best game to outplay one team after the other. Although they lost against the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals, one thing was for sure, Buttler had an amazing chemistry with his teammates. He was inspiring them to victory.
Being in his 11th season in the NBA, Butler started off his career in the Bulls jersey. Where he played for 6 years, but as the Chicago Bulls needed a rebuild, they let go off Butler. He then wore the Minnesota Timberwolves outfit and made them reach their first playoff after 2003-04. But it all went downhill for Butler thereafter. Verbal banters with teammates Karl Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins provoked Butler to leave Timberwolves. Butler’s frustration was through the roof and he finally got his trade. This time to the Philadelphia 76ers.
The 76ers team of Butler, Simmons, and Embiid seems good on paper, but in reality, there was no chemistry. Butler later revealed his displeasure with the management. It all came down as Buttler not being a good team player.
Jimmy Butler and Miami Heat- A match made in Heaven
Miami Heat centre, Meyers Leonard, in a recent interaction with The Rush, rubbished claims of Jimmy Butler being a bad teammate. Leonard said, “The thing about Jimmy is, first of all, he obviously completely destroyed any and all narratives about him being an [BLEEP] and a bad teammate. Let me tell you something. I’ve been in the league for eight years. That’s a good dude right there and a good teammate, by the way — like, really cares about people.”
When Butler came to Miami, no one saw them as the threat. But as the season went along, Heat came reigning down on their opponents. Inspired by Butler, Herro and Adebayo started with their dazzling plays to register as Eastern Conference winners. Erik Spoelstra as a coach couldn’t have been happier with the Heat’s performance in the playoffs. In route to reach the final, the Heat defeated the Pacers, the Bucks, and the Celtics, losing only 4 games in three series.
Given their best form, it won’t be a surprise for anyone if Jimmy Butler leads Miami Heat to another successful season.
