“He just didn’t seem like the same guy” Daniel Cormier thinks Conor McGregor has changed
MMA legend Daniel Cormier had some thoughts to share after the Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier fight. The former UFC lightweight and heavyweight champion believes that Conor needs to bring his “wild” back into the game. Alike Cormier several other Fans and Critics felt the same way too. A lot of the viewers feel that Conor McGregor has lost his edge and is now in a more mature place in life and the sport.
The UFC world knows Conor to be the wild, Notorious, Trash-talking fighter. Maybe the world needs some time to get used to this other side of the Irishman. Conor McGregor won the first fight against Dustin Poirier. The build-up to that fight had Conor trash-talking and insulting Poirier. But the rematch witnessed a new side to the superstar. Conor was rather very respectful and kind to Dustin Poirier. The Khabib Nurmagomedov Vs Conor fight witnessed some of the most disrespectful moments in the UFC’s history.
Cormier stated, “The buildup (to a fight), I truly believe that some people need that edge. Do I think he needs to go as far as he went with the Khabib (Nurmagomedov) fight? No, that was too far. But I think some of those guys need that edge a little bit, man. And I think for McGregor, he’s showing a maturity about it that he may not have had before, but I think that some of these guys need that edge.”
Daniel Cormier’s advice to Conor and other fighters
Daniel Cormier also stated, “Some guys need that edge”. He said that Conor is in a mature place in his life and as a result of that his character inside the ring has softened too.
He also continues to ponder, “Does Conor have the motivation to go back and become the guy that competed at the level that he did all those times?”, which honestly is a question Conor might be asking himself too.
